Board-level diagnosis and repair
Our technicians diagnose faults to component level, replace failed parts, repair damaged tracks and connectors and rework fine-pitch devices. Repaired units are functionally tested before return.
Board-level repair is often faster and more economical than replacing whole modules, especially for older or specialised equipment.
Legacy and obsolete equipment
Older instruments may have no manufacturer support. Where documentation is unavailable, we reverse engineer circuits, source or substitute obsolete components and, if necessary, design replacement boards that fit the original equipment.
Documenting legacy equipment during repair also makes future repairs faster and reduces dependence on individual technicians.
Maintenance programmes
For organisations with fleets of instruments, we offer scheduled maintenance, calibration support and spares planning so equipment stays available when it is needed.
A maintenance programme can be tailored to equipment criticality, operating hours and environment.
Repair or replace?
Replacing an instrument may seem simpler, but new equipment can require requalification, integration work and long lead times. Repair often restores equipment for a fraction of the cost and keeps systems running with known, qualified hardware.
After diagnosis we share the fault, the proposed repair, the estimated cost and any risks, so you can make an informed decision.
Common faults we repair
Typical faults include failed power supply components, damaged connectors, corroded tracks, failed electrolytic capacitors, damaged ICs from electrical overstress, display failures and firmware corruption. Many faults are caused by age, environment or electrical events and can be repaired at board level.
Understanding common failure modes helps us diagnose quickly and recommend preventive measures.
Documentation for repaired equipment
Each repair is documented with the fault found, parts replaced and tests performed. This history helps plan maintenance and identify recurring issues across a fleet of instruments.
Repair reports can be shared with your maintenance team and kept as part of your equipment records.
Preventive maintenance
Scheduled inspection and replacement of ageing components, such as electrolytic capacitors and fans, can prevent failures before they happen. We offer maintenance programmes tailored to your equipment and operating conditions.
Preventive work is scheduled to minimise disruption to your operations.
Equipment we repair
Temperature indicators and controllers, panel meters, power supplies, control cards, measurement instruments, test equipment and electronic modules from industrial and defence systems.
If your equipment is not listed, contact us. Many electronic modules can be repaired using the same diagnostic approach.
Reverse engineering service
When documentation is unavailable, we trace circuits, create schematics and identify components. The result can be used for repair, spares manufacture or a redesigned replacement board.
Recreated documentation is delivered to you and can be used for future maintenance or redesign.
Spares manufacture
For equipment with no available spares, we can manufacture replacement boards based on recreated documentation.
Manufactured spares are tested against the original equipment's functional requirements before supply.
Getting started
Contact us with the equipment details and fault description. We will advise how to send the unit for diagnosis.
Photos of the equipment, labels and fault symptoms help us advise quickly.
Sending equipment for repair
Pack equipment securely, include a description of the fault and contact details, and let us know if there is any urgency. We confirm receipt and keep you updated.
We recommend including any accessories needed for testing, such as cables or sensors, to ensure accurate diagnosis.
Repair of multiple units
When several units have the same fault, we analyse the cause and may recommend a design or component change to prevent recurrence.
Batch repairs can be scheduled to reduce downtime and cost per unit.
Calibration after repair
After repair, instruments can be checked against reference standards to verify accuracy before return.
Calibration results are recorded and returned with the instrument.
